About a month ago I impulsively bought the Chloé Faye Mini in Cloudy Blue. Also know as the Chloe Faye Wallet on Strap. I saw the photo of Negin Mirsaheli on Instagram and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. She pulls it off incredibly great!
I went ahead and bought it from a Dutch Luxury department store called de Bijenkorf. They had this exact model and the colour that I wanted in stock. Plus, shipping takes literally less than 24hours (as compared to if you buy it from Chloe’s own website or Net-a-Porter, PLUS, free shipping).
One thing to note though, buying it from de Bijenkorf, or I think even Net-a-Porter, the bag will not come with the Chloé box. If I’m not mistaken if you buy it from net-a-porter, you get the option of having either their signature box (the black ones), or a more discreet brown one. And, if you buy it from de Bijenkorf, it comes in the basic white cardboard box. It’s not such a big deal but I have to admit that when I opened the package it felt a little bit less special.
So, anyway, about the bag itself..
The top part of it is made out of suede and everything else is made out of calfskin (care tips at the very end). I think mine is in the color “cloudy blue”? and the chain is a bit of a mix (have both gold and silver).
It’s quite understated and I think it’s super lovely. It’s small but, it still fits quite a lot of the essentials (H:10.5cm, W: 15cm, D: 4cm). I had my passport in there, some cards, my headphones, travel card, iPhone 7, lipbalm… I’m sure you can fit a lot more if you really try to. I didn’t have to carry a wallet because it has 3 card slots in there and I never pay with cash anyways (you rarely do in the Netherlands – even if it’s only €1 purchase!).
It has a magnetic closure which is fairly easy to open and close. The length of the shoulder strap is about 114cm – 130cm and it is removable. This is extremely handy because the bag then becomes super, super versatile.
Ways to wear it:
- A normal long crossbody (which isn’t that long for someone who is short);
- A clutch when you take off the strap;
- A belt bag / bum bag;
- A shorter crossbody? Like, the you know how people are now slinging their bum bags across their shoulder? You can also do that with the Faye.
This is my favorite way of wearing the bag.
Overall, it’s quite a nice bag to have. I’ve worn it just out and about in the city, and, also to bars and dinners. I work a full time job in a corporate so I can only wear this bag in the weekend – but so far, I’ve been loving it. It’s not the bag to have but it’s quite nice and incredibly versatile. I can see myself keeping this in my collection for more than just a few months. Plus, I’m super excited to wear this in my upcoming holiday!
Care tips:
I do spray this bag heavily with the Collonil spray (the no color suede spray and the carbon wax water/dirtproof) and beforehand lather the leather part with some Collonil moisturizing leather gel. I do this on all of my bags and it does the job well. Ever since the lady in Mulberry convinced me to get it for my Mini Lily, I’ve never looked back. I just use it all the time.
Let me know in the comments below what you think and/or if you have any other style/care tips. Love to hear from you!
