A short background
My obsession with the Issey Miyake pleats please collection started a long time ago, but I never really pulled the trigger until I saw it on Matches Fashion. If you know me personally or read my other article on where are the best places you can buy luxury goods online (link), you’d know that I am a huge fan of this retailer. I check their app religiously and one day I saw this beautiful, but sold out, Issey Miyake Pleats Please set in Olive.

I was so in love and I wanted to get it so badly. Unfortunately, my size was never restocked and I spent weeks scouring the internet for this specific set. In the end, I was saved by a depop seller from Japan. This really sweet seller had a super similar set to the one pictured above and I didn’t waste my time. I just pulled the trigger and next thing you know, I’m rocking a bill from the Dutch customs and a super sweet set Issey Miyake pleats please set in olive!

Mini-review
Though it’s not super visible from the photo above, the fit of this particular set ran pretty big. There’s quite a bit of excess material and I feel like I should’ve sized down to size 1. At least for this particular set, the size 2 and 3 I took felt pretty big on my 160cm stature. The excess material can sometimes look unflattering, but I am still super happy with the whole look.
The quality and the colour of the pleats please set is unbeatable. I can’t even describe what the colour looks like, the photo doesn’t do it justice. It’s absolutely stunning. Above all of this, Issey Miyake’s pleats please is 100% polyester. Not my most favourite material due to a number of reasons including how warm it gets in the summer, but it’s literally the most practical luxury wear I own. I’ve stained this set a couple of times but I could literally just wash it off and it’ll go back to how it was.
Plus, it doesn’t crease!
I 100% love and recommend it.
Dupes & Alternatives of the Issey Miyake Pleats Please
Though the pleats please set can get a little bit expensive, I think you should definitely checkout the secondhand market first before getting into the dupes and alternatives. You can usually find a good deal from depop or Vestiaire Collective, but you do need to be quick as the good ones go fast.
However, if that’s not your jam, I’ve got a list of really cool dupes and alternatives to the Issey Miyake Pleats Please as categorised in its types.
